WhatsApp has finally enabled the mention feature on its Android as well as iPhone app. All you need to do is use "@" sign in a group chat and the app will automatically suggest names of the group members. It works the same ways as in Facebook and Twitter.
Once you select the member and hit send, name of that member will appear in blue text. You can mention multiple people in a single chat. The feature only works in a group chat, and is not applicable for individual chats. This new feature is visible to Android users who are running version 2.16.259
