Apple has announced the upgraded version of Apple Watch at its event in San Francisco. Apple Watch Series 2 comes with a brighter display, improved processor and built-in GPS for fitness tracking.
Apple Watch Series 2 comes with new S2 chip with a faster dual-core processor and a new GPU with 2x graphics performance. Apple says this makes the next gen Apple Watch 50 percent faster than its predecessor. The new display is 2x brighter at 1000 nits, brightest for any Apple display.
Apple Watch Series 2 is also “swimproof” which is water resistant up to 50 meters. It comes with watchOS 3 that features improved performance and simpler way to launch favorite apps instantly, either from the watch face or with the new Dock, which displays the latest information already updated in the background.
Apple Watch Series 2 adds a new ceramic variant along with aluminum and stainless steel. It will be available in gold, rose gold, silver or space gray aluminum, or silver or space black stainless steel cases at $369 and the new ceramic Apple Watch Edition starts at $1249 (US). Pre-order starts on September 9th and will be available on September 16th. The watchOS 3 update will go live on September 13th.
