Motorola has started rolling out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to its Moto X Play smartphone in India. The company in India rolled out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Moto X Play in January.
The new update comes bundled with Google's monthly security update - Android security update for March - as well as adds Unicode 8.0 emoji support including volleyball, taco, middle finger, champagne bottle, as well as new faces for sickness, thinking, and rolling eyes. The update for the Moto X Play also brings camera shutter tone switch that lets you turn off and on the sound of the camera shutter and also lets you launch the camera by double-pressing the power button.
The new update is now available over-the-air (OTA), though Moto X Play users can manually check for updates by going to the Settings app of the smartphone, and navigating to About Phone > System Updates. The update weighs roughly 388MB, so we recommend users to switch to Wi-Fi before downloading the OS update.
