Xiaomi Sets Guinness World Record for Selling 2 Million Smartphones in a Day


Xiaomi celebrated it's fifth birthday on 8th April and it has entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for selling 2.11 million phones online in 24 hours during its Mi Fan Fest in China. It sold 720,000 units of smart appliances, 247,000 set of Mi Power Strip, 208,000 units of Mi Band, 79,000 units of Mi Wi-Fi and 38,600 sets of Mi TVs. It also sold 403,000 Power banks, 336,000 Mi Piston earphones and 3.12 million units of Mi air purifiers.

"Good news: Xiaomi just set a new Guinness World Record, selling 2.11 million mobile phones in 24 hours," chief executive Lei Jun posted on Sina Weibo - the Chinese equivalent of Twitter - shortly after the event. "This is beyond my imagination," the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post quoted Lei as telling reporters at the company's headquarters in Beijing.
