Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 620, 618, 425, 415 Chipsets

Qualcomm announced four new Snapdragon chipsets for mobile devices - Snapdragon 620, Snapdragon 618, Snapdragon 425 and Snapdragon 415.


Snapdragon 620 and Snapdragon 618 is a 64-bit octa-core processor and it uses four ARM Cortex-A72 cores and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores. It supports 4K video capture along with Quad-HD (1440x2560 pixels) displays and next generation Qualcomm Adreno GPU. The processors will have the latest camera features, dual ISP camera with support up to 21MP ZSL at 24fps and 930MP/sec throughput, faster download speeds (VoLTE) and fast-charging with Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0 technology.

Snapdragon 425 and Snapdragon 415 is a 64-bit octa-core processor and it uses two ARM Cortex-A72 cores paired with quad Cortex-A53 CPUs. Snapdragon 425 supports X8 LTE modem which will provide  twice the speed on LTE networks. It supports supports advanced camera features with dual ISPs and high-fidelity audio. Snapdragon 415 supports X5 LTE modem which is slightly slower than Snapdragon 425, which supports download speeds of up to 150Mbps.

Commenting on the launch, Alex Katouzian, Senior Vice President of Product Management, Qualcomm Technologies said,"We are excited to announce the Snapdragon 620 and 618 processors with next-generation graphics, camera, 4K video capture and connectivity, all premium tier features previously only found in our Snapdragon 800 class products. The Snapdragon 620 and 618 also both come with X8 LTE, as does the Snapdragon 425, marking the first time we've supported this amazingly fast speed at the 400 tier".
