Facebook on Thursday added a new feature that allows users to assign a specific person who will be able to access their account after they die.
The new feature is called Legacy Contact. You can view this new feature under security setting menu in Facebook. You will be able to select a specific person whom you think can control you account after you die. Alternatively, users can opt to have their account deleted after they pass away.
Previously, Facebook already had memorialization system where people can let Facebook know a user has passed away. The memorialized accounts will not be seen in friend suggestions, ads or other "public" places on Facebook.

- Write a post to display at the top of the memorialized Timeline (for example, to announce a memorial service or share a special message)
- Respond to new friend requests from family members and friends who were not yet connected on Facebook
- Update the profile picture and cover photo
Now the Memorialized account will have a "remembering" label before the display name to let users know that the user has passed away.
As of now the legacy contact is available to users in US and it will expand globally.
